It's another Stunner!
It'll be another beaut sunny day on the hill. The sky is full of stars and there is just a puff of a breeze from the east. The current temp is a warm 4.8 degrees and we are heading for a balmy top of 8 degrees.
Although the temp is warm, the humidity has remained very low since yesterday afternoon, which has allowed the snowmakers to have a good run overnight and they are still pumping it out down in the valley this morning. This should make for pretty good turns on firm groomers this morning, and the sunny aspects should soften as the day progresses. Enjoy.
Heavenly Valley Lift is closed and the area is Not Recommended. The cover is marginal and the surface will remain icy all day on the shaded aspects. The conditions are only suitable for Advanced and Expert skiers and riders, so think about your group's ability before traversing across from the Summit or Road Runner. The Extreme Area is Closed due to an extreme ice hazard. Do Not Enter!
Cheers Bill

Backcountry Conditions
The cover is marginal and there is a significant slide hazard in the backcountry. The sunniest of aspects may soften for spring-like turns as the day warms but shaded and south facing slopes will likely stay very slick and dangerous for the day. Take care.
Village to Skiers Xing groomed Last night, Skate Classic. Wednesday night there was grooming down to Whiskey Flat and some of the Biathlon loops with the skidoo and harrows. More of this in the Biathlon area last night. There are some thin and bare patches. On Tuesday night it was groomed skate and classic Village to Wire Plain and all Christmas Hill trails with the big machine. Make the most of it.

A BIG SHOUT OUT TO SKI PATROL, THE AIR AMBULANCE CREW AND ALL WHO WERE INVOLVED IN THE LATE YESTERDAY AND EVENINGS RESCUE ON MARYS SLIDE.. AN INCREDIBLE TEAM!!!!
t is firm this morning and shaded areas may stay that way..Be very aware of variable cover and conditions. Groomers comment on Tuesdays grooming, " There was probably not enough snow to do it ,but looking at the forecast it might have been the only opportunity to groom it with the big machine." Please ski with care. If you aren't skilled I would recommend using classic skis. .So there you have it Call into the Wire Plain Hub for a warming drink and snack.

Dinner Plain Trail
There was a group who skied to D.P. yesterday. Said they didn't take their skis off, just dodged around the thin or bare spots.
Reported that it wasn't the easiest ski however they said they had a good time. One of them had never XC skied before. They also saw an emu down near Mother Johnsons.. A bit of an adventure. So maybe worth checking out.
Cheers Bev.
